The Sarasota Rec League got a taste of international competition during a series of games versus the Venezuelan Women’s National Team July 31 and Aug. 1, at Booker Middle School.

Coming off a recent trip to the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, the Venezuelan Women’s National Team spent a week in Sarasota preparing for 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, which began Aug. 9 and runs through Aug. 16. The championship serves as a pre-Olympic qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
