"Some guys like baseball and football. I like hot rods."—Tom Gelok, Palmetto
Every car owner has a story about how they became interested in restoring, rebuilding or just buying a classic car. Owners and bystanders examined the cars and exchanged anecdotes about their experiences.
"We all try to individualize our cars a little," said Tom Gelok, a Palmetto resident who drove in his 1932 Ford Coupe.

Bruce Sherwood and labradoodle Jackson brought this 1927 Ford Model T. On the side, Sherwood painted "Wares Creek Wood Shop, est. 1897." Sherwood owns a wood shop in the Wares Creek area, and the house originally on the property was built in 1897.
Tom Gelok of Palmetto added this devilish hood ornament to his 1932 Ford Coupe. "It's a 50s nostalgia thing," he said. "People get a laugh out of it."
Jerry Worsham from Bradenton and Gary Thorpe from Cortez discuss replacing the wheels on vintage Volkswagen Beetles. Both men own Beetle models; Thorpe owns the 1979 red model behind the two men.
A 1923 Ford T-bucket, owned by Bill Garland of Palmetto, caught the eyes of passers-by with blue and flamed paint style.
Pat Wynn examines his original 1991 Lincoln Mark VII. His father worked for Lincoln Mercury, which attracted him to the car.
Car enthusiasts and Main Street visitors meandered around the classic car show.
Soren Svenningsen and his grandson Lucas, 13, talk to Mike Bohardt, a Tara Golf and Country Club resident, about his 1960 Triumph TR3. Svenningsen said he's "car crazy" and was drawn to Bohardt's vehicle because he used to own a Triumph.
Wayne Seel of Lakewood Ranch shows off this custom 1986 Porsche, of which he is the original owner. He went to Germany to receive the vehicle and met the mechanics who built it. The company loved his design so much that he was featured in its magazine.
Ron Kutch and granddaughter Natalia, 8, check out the models after seeing a movie together with grandmother Sandy.
Around 40 cars were displayed at Wednesday night's car show.
Vicki, Blair, and Hailey Crooke saw the car show advertised and decided to come and check it out.
