Sixteen high school baseball teams from Tampa to Miami hit the field for the 30th Annual Sarasota Baseball Classic March 23 through March 26.

Braden River went 3-1 to finish as the tournament runner-up. The Pirates beat Manatee (13-4), Charlotte (8-6) and Cardinal Mooney (11-0) before falling to Venice (13-3) in the championship game.
Cardinal Mooney also went 3-1 to finish third. The Cougars notched wins against Cape Coral (6-4), Sarasota (5-3) and Killian (4-2).
Riverview also went 3-1. After falling to Lakewood Ranch 8-3, the Rams went on to beat Miami Springs (3-0), Cape Coral (7-0) and Palmetto (3-1).
Lakewood Ranch went 1-3, defeating Riverview 8-3 for its lone win of the tournament.
Sarasota opened the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Miami Springs before falling to Cardinal Mooney, Tampa Catholic (8-4) and Taravella (2-1).
Cardinal Mooney’s Josh Bonynge was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Pitcher while Braden River’s Brian Dillingham earned Most Outstanding Hitter honors.
