The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Jason Maxwell of Sarasota for being an accomplice in the armed robberies of the Sarasota Pak Mail and Synovus Bank in February.

Christopher York of Sarasota was arrested last week for two armed robberies last month.

A witness directed detectives to Maxwell’s home after seeing someone fitting the description of the suspect run from the rear of the bank to the house, which is nearby. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, where they found evidence from both crimes. Maxwell agreed to speak detectives and admitted assisting York.

Maxwell turned himself in this morning and has been charged with one count each of accessory to robbery with a firearm and accessory to attempted robbery with a firearm. He is currently being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bond.
