Police arrest Pak Mail burglar

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Christopher York, of Sarasota, in connection with two armed robberies last month.

Detectives say York, 26, is the man who robbed a Sarasota Pak Mail on Feb. 16 and a Synovus Bank on Feb. 29. In surveillance photos released from both crimes the suspect is hidden by a mask or helmet. However, when detectives went to a home near the bank to follow-up on a tip, they saw the helmet and backpack from the Pak Mail robbery in plain view and obtained a search warrant for the remainder of the residence. Detectives recovered evidence of both crimes including the weapon that had been used.

York admitted to his involvement in the crimes and was charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. He was booked into the Sarasota County Jail Thursday afternoon and is currently being held without bond.
