The Sarasota County 911 Center is currently experiencing problems with landline phones. In the event of an emergency, people should use a cell phone to call 911 until further notice. The phone company is working toward a resolution at this time, the sheriff's office reports. It is important to note, cell phones do not automatically provide a location, so be aware of where you are calling from when dialing 911.
