Sarasota city manager candidates are dwindling by the day.

Human Resources Director Kurt Hoverter announced this morning that Daytona Beach City Manager Jim Chisholm is not interested in being reconsidered by the Sarasota City Commission as a city manager candidate on Monday.

Texas candidate Rick Chaffin, who dropped out of the running before the commission first considered the candidates earlier this month, has also expressed he’s not interested in being reconsidered.

That leaves only two candidates for the commission to consider:

• Former Oak Park, Ill., City Manager Thomas Barwin

• West Palm Beach City Manager Edward “Ed” Mitchell.

The commission will discuss hiring one of the remaining candidates at its 2:30 p.m. July 16 regular meeting at City Hall, 1565 First St., Sarasota.
