Downtown Improvement District Board of Directors Chairman Ernie Ritz said at the Tuesday, July 10 DID meeting that the parking-meter enforcement time, which runs till 8 p.m., is hurting downtown businesses, restaurants and event traffic.

“Downtown parking enforcement times should end at 6 p.m.,” Ritz said. “It’s terrible to see patrons come out after eating or shopping downtown and see parking tickets on their cars.”

DID board members said those who get an evening ticket will think twice about coming downtown again for dinner or to an evening event.

The enforcement times will most likely be discussed at an upcoming Parking Advisory Committee.
