Sarasota parents taking their kids back to school Monday are being warned that Osprey Avenue is still partially closed from Bahia Vista Street to Mound Street for a major capital improvement project.

A new lift station and sanitary sewer collection system that’s behind schedule is the reason for the closure. It is estimated the road will reopen in mid-December. Motorists should follow the detour signs and use U.S. 41. Osprey Avenue remains open to local traffic only.

City staff continues to stay in contact with residents, business owners and other stakeholders in the Osprey Avenue construction area, providing updates on the project timeline, coordinating neighborhood traffic patterns and answering questions. Stakeholders are receiving regular project updates via email. To register for project notifications and to see a map of the construction area visit www.SarasotaGov.com. Updates also can be received via Twitter @CityofSarasota.

For more information contact project manager, Steve Topovski at 365-220, ext. 6221.
