Authorities identify man in structure fire

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has identified 20-year-old Lane Austin Jordan as the man whose body was found in a structure fire Aug. 29 in the 5400 block of 36th St. E., Bradenton.

A preliminary autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office indicates Jordan died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A bullet was discovered during the autopsy, and detectives then were able to locate a handgun at the incident scene, a sheriff’s office report states.

Firefighters discovered Jordan’s body while putting out a shed fire.

The cause of the fire still has not been determined, the report states.
