PGA Tour pro Steve Marino to host AJGA tournament

PGA Tour pro Steve Marino will host the Under Armour/Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship July 18-21 at The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club in Sarasota.

Marino, a 1997 Rolex Junior All-American who turned professional in 2002 after playing at the University of Virginia, will host the first-year event, which will feature 85 junior golfers, ages 12-15, from around the country.

The Under Armour/Steve Marino Junior All-Star Championship is one of 10 events in the Gary Gilchrest Golf Academy Junior All-Star series, which presents opportunities for younger players to develop their skills and earn entry into American Junior Golf Association Open tournaments.

The tournament will open with a shotgun start at 2 p.m., July 18. Play will continue through July 21 with an awards ceremony immediately following the final round of play. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
