Production company to close Lakewood Ranch operation

A film and television production studio in Lakewood Ranch will be closing operations at that facility.

Sanborn Studios, LLC, who leased a space in the Lakewood Ranch Corporate Park in September 2010, has announced it will terminate its lease on its primary studio facility.

The company plans to relocate the studio to a location in Sarasota County that is closer to its facilities at the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

The studio celebrated its one-year anniversary at the Lakewood Ranch location in November.

Initially, the company had planned to add 117 jobs by Sept. 2013, as part of a financial incentive agreement made with Sarasota County. Sanborn has until late 2013 to create those jobs or reimburse the county about $3,000 for each of the new jobs not created.
