Braden River advances to regional semifinal

The Braden River High softball team defeated Dover Strawberry Crest 3-1 in a Class 4A-Region 3 quarterfinal April 27.

Courtney Mirabella pitched a complete game for the Lady Pirates, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out 11. With the win, Braden River improves its record to 24-3 and Mirabella improves to 19-3 on the mound.

Braden River took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Elena Lopez scored on a double by Kenya Yancy.

Lopez came around to score again in the seventh inning off another double by Yancy and Brooke Ribarich scored on Ashley Allard’s RBI single.

Yancy went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and Brooke Ribarich went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to lead the way for Braden River at the plate. Lopez went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Allard went 1-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. Jessica Cadorette drew a pair of walks and Brianna Maxa also drew a walk.

Braden River will now advance to the regional semifinals tomorrow night where it will face East County rival Lakewood Ranch for the third time this season.
