Combining bargain fashions with a great lunch always creates a sure crowd-pleaser.

On March 9, the Longboat Island Chapel’s Lord’s Warehouse presented its annual show of fashions from the thrift shop to an enthusiastic crowd of 190.

The event began with Kentucky Derby chicken salad prepared by Martha Sammons Miller and her committee.

Chairpersons of the event were Cindy Kuehnel and Sue Reese, with Reese serving as fashion-show commentator.

The show featured fashions for the spring scene, Florida favorites and elegant evenings. Models were congregation members, and the Rev. Charles Shook walked the runway as the surprise model.

Many of the outfits were from designer labels, including Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and Liz Claiborne.

Following the show, the Lord’s Warehouse was open for shopping.

Proceeds from the event are used for various church projects.
