UPDATE: Sheriff's Office reports problems with 911 calls

Verizon is currently having issues with its 911 circuits and callers may experience problems.

All 911 lines have now been fully restored. Verizon made the necessary repairs to their effected circuits.

Earlier: Local callers trying to connect to 911 are currently experience issues, such as busy tones or automated messages, according to a Feb. 23 alert from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Callers should use the following numbers in lieu of dialing 911 in case of an emergency:

343-1141
343-1142
343-1143
343-1144
343-1145
