The city is asking residents to share their thoughts on Sarasota’s parks and recreation offerings as part of a master planning process.

City staff is hosting two parks and recreation open houses next week. They will be held:

  • 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St.
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Payne Park Auditorium, 2100 Laurel St.

The open houses will be an opportunity for residents to discuss their priorities and needs regarding city parks and recreation services. Participants can provide feedback directly to staff and through a survey.

The city is working to develop a parks and recreation master plan to guide future improvement and programming efforts. Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Fogle said staff hopes to assess the needs of all Sarasota neighborhoods.

“We will make our rounds and get everywhere throughout the city,” Fogle said in a previous interview with the Sarasota Observer.
