Siesta Key Kiwanis Club members had a swashbuckling good time at their annual fundraiser gala Saturday, March 23, at the Sarasota Yacht Club. The theme of the 12th annual gala was 'the mighty pirate invasion,' and guests showed off their best pirate garb while raising money for the club.

The 15 students enrolled in Artisan Cheese Co.'s 'America's Best' Thursday, March 20 got hands (noses and mouths) on. They tasted and paired 10 American cheeses made of cow, goat and sheep's milk. The next class, Cheese 101, is April 2 as well as April 17.

Sarasota County firehouses battled it out for Sarasota's best chili in the 14th Annual Firehouse Chili Cook-Off, Sunday Oct. 20. The cook-off was held in front of Morton's Gourmet Market on Osprey Ave. and had over a dozen stations competing. Stations got creative with both their chili and booths.
