From the first note to the final bow, Defying Expectations: An Evening in Three Acts promises an elegant celebration of performance, imagination and community is set beneath the stars on Sarasota Bay. Inspired by some of Idina Menzel’s most iconic roles in Frozen, Wicked, and Rent, the evening supports the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation’s mission to make the arts accessible to all.

Guests will also witness the presentation of the Patron of the Arts Award, honoring an individual whose generosity uplifts our region’s creative community. Proceeds from the gala support education and engagement programs reaching more than 40,000 students, educators, and families each year.
