Olivia Martin is a junior right fielder on the Sarasota High softball team. Martin went 3-for-3 with two RBIs April 2 in the Sailors' 8-6 win against North Fort Myers High.

When did you start playing softball?

When I was 6. I started in gymnastics but thought that was too girly. Then I got interested in baseball and saw my sister (Victoria Martin) playing softball, which is mostly the same thing. That's how I got into it.

What is the appeal to you?

That one hit or one catch you make. You can have bad games, but that one play always brings me back.

What is your best skill?

Always having a good attitude.

What is your favorite memory?

One game when I was 7, playing for Miss Sarasota All-Stars,  I had to get stitches under my (right) eye after getting hit with a ball. I left the game, got stitches and came back to finish playing the game, and we won.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Myself. I am hard on myself. My biggest thing is getting out of my own head and playing my game instead of overthinking it.

What is your favorite food?

French fries. Chick-fil-A waffle fries are my No. 1. McDonald's fries are probably my No. 2.

What is your favorite TV show?

"The Vampire Diaries."

What is your dream vacation?

Going to Barcelona. I saw it in "The Cheetah Girls 2" and it looked beautiful.

What superpower would you pick?

Mind reading. I would know everything about everyone.

What is your biggest fear?

(Getting in) a car crash, for sure.

What is the best advice you have received?

Everything will work out in the end. If it does not work out, it is not the end.

Finish this sentence: "Olivia Martin is ... "

... Tough.
