Lakewood Ranch resident vies for District 5 seat

Lakewood Ranch resident Kathleen Grant has entered the race for Manatee County District 5 Commissioner Vanessa Baugh’s seat.

Grant, a resident of the Watercrest community, served as a supervisor of Lakewood Ranch Community Development District 2 from November 2011 to March 2014.

Grant played a lead role in opposing Homes by Towne’s plans to construct a seven-level condominium complex behind Lakewood Ranch Cinemas. Manatee County commissioners approved the project in November 2014.

East County resident Thomas Batchelor also has entered the race.
