Maio files first finance report for 2014 election

Sarasota County Commission candidate Alan Maio filed the first finance report of the 2014 general election April 11, with more than $51,000 in campaign contributions since Jan. 1.

Maio is running for the District 4 seat, which Commissioner Nora Patterson currently represents. Patterson, a Siesta Key resident, raised about $40,000 in her first finance report for the 2010 general election, and about $180,000 overall.

County Commissioner Joe Barbetta is among Maio’s donors, along with prominent developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch Inc.

At this time only one other Sarasota candidate, Pete Theisen for county commission district seat 2, had filed for 2014 elections.
