Riverview High senior Kehtura Merrick threw the discus 120 feet, 7 inches to capture the state title at the Class 4A State Finals May 4, at the University of North Florida, in Jacksonville.

The Sarasota Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance identifying three men who were involved in an aggravated battery of a man around 12:45 a.m. this morning at Siesta Key Public Beach.

Sculptors and spectators packed the beach Saturday, May 4, at the 41st Annual Siesta Key Amateur Sand Sculpting Contest. Competitors carved their sculptures and soaked up some sun before judges awarded prizes. Andrew Dailey’s pirate sculpture won several awards, including judge’s choice and first place in the adult humorous category.
