JUNE 23

I FOUND THIS

1:51 p.m., 1600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Property found: While parked along Gulf of Mexico Drive, a police officer was approached by a woman who reported finding a change purse along the side of the road near Coquina Beach. The woman said she stopped at the police station but found no one in the lobby. The officer took possession of the article, placed into into safe-keeping and tried to contact the owner.

CALL IT A DAY

2:03 p.m., 3400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Noise: A caller to police reported construction work proceeding at a property along Gulf of Mexico Drive. Police spoke to the crew, who reported not knowing about the town’s regulations on work noise. The crew stopped work immediately.

GETTING IT JUST RIGHT

5:27 p.m., Police Headquarters

Public service: A police officer was summoned to the police station to assist with the proper installation a child safety seat in a vehicle. The officer helped with the installation and returned to patrol.

PROTECT AND SERVE

8:27 p.m., Police Headquarters

Public service: An officer was summoned to the police station to meet with a man who arrived to speak with him. The man simply wanted to personally thank the officer for helping with a call in April.

 

JUNE 24

NO MORE DRIVING

5:22 p.m., 5300 block of Sandhamn Place

Welfare check: Police were alerted to a man who had been advised to stop driving because of health concerns possibly on the road to a nearby shopping center. An officer found the car and the man in the parking lot before he embarked on the drive home. Another officer picked up a relative and brought the relative to the shopping center to drive the man home. Police reiterated to the man he should not drive because of his condition.

 

JUNE 25

NEW RULES

6:19 p.m., 7000 block of Lois Avenue

Parking: Within the span of a few minutes, police wrote several tickets in the neighborhood of Lois Avenue for parking in no-parking zones. New no-parking zones and other rules were recently established in the Longbeach Village area because of neighbor complaints. More parking citations were issued in the same neighborhood on subsequent days.

 

I KNOW, I KNOW

10:30 p.m., 3800 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Traffic: The driver of an SUV was seen passing in a no-passing zone while southbound on Gulf of Mexico Drive. Following a traffic stop, the driver conceded she knew what she did was wrong. Her license was valid and there were no other criminal wants or warrants. She was issued a verbal warning and released.

 

 

 JUNE 26

SO MANY NUMBERS TO REMEMBER

2:49 p.m., 500 block of Putting Green Lane

Alarm: Police responded to an activated intruder alarm at a residence. The officer sent to investigate was told the homeowner was on the scene, though had entered the wrong passcode number to deactivate the alarm. The officer confirmed the report and cleared the scene.
