The cocktail lounge isn’t even open yet, but Cask & Ale on Main Street has already become somewhat of a hot spot.

As the owners of the downtown bar and tapas restaurant remain embroiled in a legal battle, the city has now issued an order halting work on the site at 1548 Main St.

The stop-work order is posted on the door of the property at 1548 Main St.

The stop-work order is unrelated to the legal issues. Code Compliance Coordinator Lawrence Burleson said the city issued the notice because workers were painting a sign on the property without a permit.

The work stoppage may not last long. According to the city website, the Cask & Ale owners filed for a permit Monday to conduct the sign work. The permit application is still pending city review.

The owners of Cask & Ale have not formally announced an opening date for the business. The city approved plans for the bar in July.
