May 10

Good Samaritan
7:04 p.m. — 4100 block of GMD
Trespassing: A woman told police that two men were walking around near her dock, and she was afraid they were intoxicated and could fall into the water. She also reported that she often has issues with people trespassing on her dock.

Hearsay
10:17 p.m. — 6900 block of Poinsetta Avenue
Disturbance: A man reported ongoing issues with tenants in a neighboring unit and said he overheard them talking about damaging his car. The neighbors told police they were leaving because their unit had been foreclosed upon and didn’t want any problems.

Larceny or laundry?
11:54 p.m. — 500 block of Putter Lane
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman fled her home after hearing what she thought was someone rummaging through drawers in her home. Police did not find any signs of a suspect or forced entry. Officers noted a dryer was running, which sounded like someone rummaging through the house.

May 13

No vacancy
4:41 p.m. — 6300 block of GMD
Fraud: A property manager discovered an advertisement on Craigslist to lease a cottage owned by a local church. She told police the property had already been leased, and she did not receive a reply when she tried to contact the unknown person who listed it. 

Let there be light
9 p.m. — 501 De Narvaez Drive
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman reported that a light was on inside a neighboring home that usually did not have lights on. Police contacted the owner, who said the lights were set to a timer and should be on.

May 14

Room with a view
11:38 a.m. — 4500 block of GMD
Suspicious Circumstance: A man told police an unknown person slept on his boat the previous night. Nothing was missing from the vessel, but a seat cushion had been moved. The man requested extra patrols at night.

Watching for the Watchtower
12 p.m. — 500 block of Bayview Drive
Suspicious Person: A caller reported Jehovah’s Witnesses in the area. Police were unable to locate any during a search.

Messy breakup
3:47 p.m. — 700 block of Jackson Way
Trespassing: A woman entered her friend’s home and found an unknown woman in the bedroom. Police contacted the owner, who said the unknown woman was his former girlfriend who had moved out the previous week. Officers issued a trespass warning.

Trashed jewels
10:44 p.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road
Missing Property: A woman told police she wrapped a $3,600 necklace in a tissue and stored it in a safe for safekeeping. When she returned, the tissue and necklace were gone, but cash, iPads and other jewelry remained. She told officers she may have pulled the tissue out accidentally and discarded it.

May 15

No touching!
11:15 a.m. — 200 block of North Shore Road
Animal Rescue: Officers responded to reports of people petting manatees between two groins. Police found a pod of manatees and onlookers, though no one was close to or disturbing the marine mammals in any way. An officer educated the public on laws against molesting manatees.
