THURSDAY, JAN. 21

The Sarasota High girls basketball team will look to close out the regular season on a winning note when it plays host to Agape Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Both teams reached the regional tournament last season and will use the game as a final tuneup before district tournament play begins.

The game also will serve as Senior Night for DeQuandra Hill, the Lady Sailors lone senior.

FRIDAY, JAN. 22

Who will clinch the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A-District 10 tournament? That question will be answered when the Booker High boys basketball team hosts Sebring at 7:30 p.m. The Blue Streaks, winners of seven straight games, edged past the Tornadoes 83-76 in the first matchup between the district’s top two teams. Booker has scored at least 70 points in all eight of its district games thus far, and don’t be surprised if this game is another high-scoring affair that goes down to the wire.

FRIDAY, JAN. 22

Sara Bay Country Club is going back in time to the Roaring '20s. The club will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a hickory shaft golf tournament for club members followed by a gala, featuring dinner and live music by Oceans Eleven Big Band. Attendees are encouraged to wear 1920s attire.

TUESDAY, JAN. 26

The Riverview High boys basketball team will face the perfect opponent when Cape Coral Mariner rolls into town at 7:30 p.m.

The Tritons are 17-0 heading into the final week of the regular season and the Rams, whose most recent loss came at the hands of an undefeated Grandview Prep squad Jan. 16, would like nothing more than to upend Mariner’s perfect season.
