Volleyball Roundup: East County squads post victories

The Braden River and Cardinal Mooney volleyball teams both notched wins Aug. 23.

+Braden River tops Saint Stephen’s in season opener 

The Braden River volleyball team opened its season with a 24-26, 25-7, 25-8, 25-22 victory versus St. Stephen’s Aug. 23. 

Serenity McNair powered the Lady Pirates with 14 aces, five kills and one block. Olivia Perez added 13 aces, 26 assists and three blocks. 

 

+ODA volleyball holds on for win

The Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team fended off Imagine 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19 Aug. 23. 

BreAnn Brown powered the Thunder with 10 kills, seven aces and eight digs. Lacey Eaton contributed one kill, three aces and 17 digs. Greta Holland added one kill, one ace and 14 digs.

 

+Cougars open season with win 

The Cardinal Mooney volleyball team opened its season with a 25-6, 25-10, 25-12 victory versus Bradenton Christian Aug. 23. 

Sophia Hebda powered the Lady Cougars with 13 kills and three digs. Brooke Picchi added eight kills, eight digs and four blocks. Annie Shaw contributed 16 assists, four aces and four digs. Dalton Judge was credited with five kills, five digs and four blocks. 

Cardinal Mooney returns to action Aug. 25, at Berkeley Prep.
