1. THURSDAY, April 21 through SUNDAY, April 24

One hundred and twenty Olympic rowing hopefuls will descend on Nathan Benderson Park for the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials. Time trials will begin at 8 a.m. April 21, followed by semifinals and finals races continuing throughout the weekend. 

2. THURSDAY, April 21 

The Cardinal Mooney, Sarasota Christian and ODA track and field teams will look to continue their seasons at the Class 1A-District 7 meet at ODA. The meet will begin at 10 a.m., with the top four athletes in each event advancing to the Class 1A-Region 2 meet April 29. 

3. THURSDAY, April 21 

The Sarasota Christian softball team will begin its march toward a state championship when it plays host to Land O’Lakes Academy at the Lakes in the Class 2A-Region 3 semifinals, at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the April 26 regional finals. 

4. SATURDAY, April 23 and SUNDAY, April 24

FC Sarasota will host its 3rd Annual Sarasota Cup at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. More than 180 youth soccer teams from across the state are expected to compete during the two-day tournament, which begins at 8 a.m. with pool play.
