Less than a year after accepting a position with the organization that oversees Nathan Benderson Park, Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Chief Operating Officer Nicole Rissler has take a position with Sarasota County.

Rissler, who before moving to SANCA worked as director of sports for Visit Sarasota County, will start as the deputy director of operations for the parks, recreation and natural resources department in May, according to a news release. She will begin at an annual salary of roughly $94,500, according to county spokesman Drew Winchester.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources team and excited that I will be able to continue to have an active role in the success of Nathan Benderson Park along with all of the county's great parks, beaches and preserves,” Rissler said in the release.

While working at Benderson Park, Rissler worked hand-in-hand with SANCA President Paul Blakketter, while overseeing day-to-day operations and bidding on events for the venue.

In her new position with the county, she will assist Carolyn Brown, director of parks, recreation and natural resources, in managing the department’s operations. Rissler will oversee five divisions, including sports development and athletics, natural areas, preserves and trails, beaches and water access and maintenance services.

“Nicole already has a great working relationship with the county and is very knowledge about how we operate from her experience with SANCA and Visit Sarasota County,” said County Administrator Tom Harmer in the release. “We look forward to her joining the county's team and serving the community in this role.”
