Cardinal Mooney 

Hillerich threw a pair of touchdown passes and also ran in for a score as the visiting Cougars became the first area team to clinch a playoff berth. Cardinal Mooney will play Clearwater Central Catholic for the district title Oct. 30. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS 

Sarasota running back Josh Booker rushed for nearly 110 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 52 and 7 yards to help lead the Sailors to their first district victory of the season. 

Sarasota quarterback Brian Gagg threw for nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns. 

Cardinal Mooney defensive back Jack Koscho intercepted a pair of passes to help lead a Cougars defense that held St. Petersburg Catholic to two yards of total offense. 

Riverview defensive back Areon Green returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. 

 

BY THE NUMBERS 

30 — Tackles junior linebacker Jason Fineberg has since moving to defense full time two weeks ago. The former running back has 18 solo tackles, two of which were for losses, and 12 assists. 

1 — District games Booker has won so far this season after beating DeSoto County Oct. 16. 

10 — Consecutive games Riverview has lost to Manatee. 

28 — Unanswered points Sarasota scored in its district victory against Lakewood Ranch. 

200 — Receiving yards ODA recorded in its loss to Carrollwood Day.
