State Street closures begin Monday

As crews begin work on the exterior of the State Street garage, the city has announced a series of street closures set to take place near the construction site beginning Monday.

From March 30 through April 10, State Street will be closed to through traffic between Lemon Avenue and Orange Avenue. Construction crews will hang panels on the face of the garage. From April 13 to May 15, that segment of State Street will be narrowed to one lane as crews install a water main and make water service connections.

On April 6-7, the intersection of State Street and Orange Avenue will be closed for water main instillation. From May 18 through June 12, there will be periodic lane closures in front of the garage on State Street for road repaving and the instillation of new sidewalks.

Pedestrian access to the street will be maintained, and area businesses will remain open. During the closures, State Street businesses will offer valet parking from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, located at the corner of State Street and Lemon Avenue.
