Lady Mustangs notch pair of wins; ODA scores victory against SMA

Lady Mustangs notch pair of wins 

The Lakewood Ranch High softball team shut out Lemon Bay 16-0 in five innings March 17. Sophomore pitcher Logan Newton had 11 strikeouts in the win. Kyra Klarkowski went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and six RBIs. Maddie Biggs went 2-for-3 with a walk, four runs scored and two RBIs.

The Lady Mustangs followed up their win with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Sarasota in district action March 19. 

Mackenzie Meyer led off the fifth inning with a solo home run before Lakewood added three more runs in the sixth inning. 

Kahlie Bickerstaff went 2-for-3 with a game-tying RBI double, and Gretchen Ebert went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, including the game-winner, and a run scored. 

ODA scores victory against SMA

Senior Kimmy Comito scored four goals and added three assists to lead The Out-of-Door Academy girls lacrosse team to a 19-3 victory over Sarasota Military Academy March 17. 

Abby LaGasse added three goals and an assist. Tess Siciliano had two goals and two assists. Adi Mahler also had two goals. Caroline Lafoe had a goal and an assist, and Jordan Bruder, Chloe Spingler and Riely Spingler each added a goal. Chloe Flanders was credited with an assist. Goalkeepers Abby Bannar and Chloe Spingler combined for five saves. 

Thunder posts district win

The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team earned its 10th win of the season with a 13-8 victory over Bradenton Christian March 19. 

With the win, the Thunder improved to 6-1 in the district. 

Austin Hoppe went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the way for ODA at the plate. Parke Phillips went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Najee Rhodes went 4-for-4 with three doubles and a RBI. 

Cougars open classic with win

The Cardinal Mooney baseball team defeated Cape Coral 6-4 to open the Sarasota Baseball Classic March 23.

Alex Rodman and Josh Bonynge combined for the win on the mound. Tyler Mattes went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the way for the Cougars at the plate. Taylor Garris went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Braden River Soccer Club U9 Girls Academy 

The Braden River Soccer Club U9 Girls White and Maroon teams finished a combined 5-1-2 at the Fish Hawk Ranch Soccer Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
