Tomorrow, Sarasota County commissioners will discuss captial improvement projects at their second budget workshop of the budget cycle.

County staff will present updates of current and upcoming projects that are funded in the capital improvement program, including the five-year road resurfacing project, the Dona Bay Environmental restoration and athletic field improvements.

CIP projects are funded through various meanings, including impact fees, ad valorem taxes, the Surtax, and grants from the state and federal levels.

The commissioners will alaso discuss moving forward with the $95.2 million public safety campus near Bahia Vista and Cattleman Road. The county's new Emergency Operations Center is already located there and officially opened March 10. The commissioners asked County Administrator Tom Harmer to put staff efforts on the public safety campus as one of the top priorities for the coming year. The project will most likely be funded through a referendum.
