Midnight, March 8 / 1600 block of 9th St.

Suspicion general / unknown

A man called to report that a longtime friend of 30 years made a vulgar comment about his wife, and the two men got into a verbal altercation, which ended their friendship. The caller reported that the other man was a "crack addict and out of his mind" and had placed a vulgar note on the front and rear doors of his home.

Dispute / fight

A man was upset that his neighbor had put garbage on the sidewalk area in front of his property. The officer explained to the complainant that the garbage was on the city right of way between the sidewalk and curb, and so no action could be taken.

The officer convinced the neighbor to move the trash a few feet down in front of his own home, but the complainant was still upset that the neighbor had cursed at him and "made a comment about him having sexual contact with his own mother." The officer explained that while not neighborly or polite, the comments weren't illegal.

Fight

A man at the SCAT bus depot with two knots on his left eye and a bloody nose reported that another man punched him in the face after he asked about his tattoos. The man refused medical attention or to describe the man, because he said there was no point, and officers wouldn't find him anyway.

After getting a description, officers located the man, who said he punched the other man because he wouldn't stop asking him for a cigarette after being told no.
