Ty Pennington and Les McCurdy to host celebrity bartending night

Looking to give your bar experience an extreme makeover?

Stop by Shamrock Pub between 5 and 8 p.m. this Thursday for a celebrity bartending event featuring Ty Pennington of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

As part of the Young Philanthropists fundraising event, Pennington will join local celebrity Les McCurdy behind the bar to help raise money to benefit the Sarasota Y-Achievers Program and the students of Triad Alternative School. 

"Growing up, I was one of the kids in an alternative school system," says Pennington. "If it weren't for the guidance of organizations like the YMCA, I wouldn't have become the person I am today. Any time I can support something like this, I'm more than happy to do it."

The event is free, but money raised at the cash bar will help fund college scholarships for the Y-Achievers and allow Triad students to attend a lab class at Mote Marine.

Young Philanthropists is an initiative funded by the YMCA-Foundation of Sarasota dedicated to raiding funds and creating opportunities for Sarasota Family YMCA programs and local children.
