Fund raising is in the Aire in East County.

The Palm Aire Women's Club raised more than $17,000 during its 2014-2015 club year, a press release said. The group plans to donate the dollars raised to scholarship funds and local charities, to benefit area students and in-need families.

The group received the bulk of its donations from annual events it hosts, such as the "Night and Day" fashion show, which raised more than $9,000; the "Lucky 13 Card and Game Party," which generated more than $3,000; and the inaugural "Holly Jolly" fundraiser collected nearly $3,000.

The group also donated food, diapers, toys, and other items collected at each meeting throughout the year.

And, the ladies-only club isn't slowing down its efforts during the summer. The group, which added more than 50 new members last year, is organizing its first big event of its 2015-2016 calendar cycle, La Belle Femme. The fashion show will be held Nov. 6, at the community's country club.

For more information on membership, call 806-5293. Membership isn't limited to Palm Aire Country Club members.
