The Manatee County School District's is starting the New Year with lawsuits and paid leave for one of its key employees.

After Superintendent Rick Mills placed the district's Office of Professional Standards Investigator Troy Pumphrey on paid administrative leave Monday because of concerns about his resume and licenses listed in the resume, Pumphrey took legal action against the district.

He filed lawsuits against the district and School Board member Dave Miner Monday. Miner proposed the idea for Pumphrey's resume to be investigated.

Pumphrey is seeking $100,000 in damages.

At its meeting at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 13, the School Board will discuss Miner's options for legal representation.
