Booker girls get easy win in lengthy contest 

The Booker High girls basketball team rolled to a 61-22 district victory against DeSoto County Dec. 11 in a game that last five quarters. 

An error with the Lady Bulldogs scorebook, which though the two teams hadn’t played four quarters, forced Booker and DeSoto to play a fifth quarter. 

Four players finished in double figures for the Lady Tornadoes, including Arie Bass, who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Cellexia Foster tallied 16 points, seven assists and five steals. Nia Gibbons added 10 points and five steals. Dimi Anderson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. 

With the win, Booker improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in district play. 

 

Lady Rams remain unbeaten in district play

The Riverview High girls basketball team improved to 4-0 in Class 8A-District 6 with a 71-48 victory versus Tampa Riverview Dec. 11. 

Lindsay Edwards scored 23 points and hauled in six rebounds to help lead the Rams to victory. Jenna Tarisa added 18 points. Shannon Abbe contributed nine points. Bri Newell finished with eight points, nine steals and 10 rebounds. 

 

Three SCS players finish in double figures in win 

The Sarasota Christian girls basketball team cruised to a 62-37 victory versus St. Petersburg Canterbury School Dec. 10. 

McKenzie Lantz scored 25 points to lead the way for the Lady Blazers. Kaylynn Snyder tallied 14 points and Alyssa Schrag added 11 points. 

 

Rams draw even with Hurricanes

The Riverview High boys soccer team tied visiting Manatee 2-2 in district action Dec. 10. 

Senior Jorge Pena and Ross Atkin each scored a goal for the Rams. Juniors Patrick Skladanowski and Adam Bates were each credited with an assist. 

Goalkeeper Mika Kuschnitzky finished with four saves. 

 

ODA hangs on for win 

Kolbie Ward scored 19 points and hauled in six rebounds to lead The Out-of-Door Academy boys basketball team to a 62-57 victory on the road against Fort Myers Canterbury School Dec. 11. 

Amad Brayboy chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and seven steals. Nate Patrick added 12 points and Kendall Johnson had eight points. 

 

Lady Thunder clinches No. 1 seed

The Out-of-Door Academy girls soccer team secured the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A-District 7 tournament with an 8-0 shutout against Imagine High Dec. 10. 

Natalie Gorji scored four goals to lead the way for the Lady Thunder. Nicole Petron added a pair of goals and Cayla Dammann and Heather Squitieri each added a goal. 

Abby Lagassee had three assists and Dammann and Kat Pacitti both were credited with an assist.
