Nesting season came a few days early for three turtles.
Although nesting season doesn’t officially begin until May 1, the first local sea turtle nests of 2015 were found along the 35 miles from Longboat Key to Venice.
The first nest was found April 25 on Siesta Key, and the second nest was found April 27 in Venice.
The first nest on Longboat Key was documented on the morning of April 28 on the beaches outside Sand Cay Beach Resort.
