Fast Food Fury

  • 10:42 a.m. Oct. 31. 800 block of S. Tamiami Trail. Battery  An officer responded to a fast food restaurant where an employee reported she was being struck in the face by her manager. The employee said the manager started yelling at her when she called another manager because they needed more straws. The employee reported that the manager then called her niece and told her to come to the restaurant to "beat up" the employee. The employee says the niece showed up at the restaurant and started yelling at her. A witness says she slid a tray across the counter in an attempt to hit her, then attempted to come behind the counter to hit her. The employee walked to the back to get away, which is when she says the manager struck her in the face. The regional manager arrived to pull video footage and the officer photographed the injury.

    One Nightstand

    • 2:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. 2000 block of Hillview Street. Petit theft. A man reported that he had been out drinking in the Southside Village neighborhood before he met a woman and brought her back to his apartment. He placed his wallet on his nightstand. Shortly after getting to the apartment, the man's mother came home, and the woman abruptly left. The man noticed his wallet had been moved, and when he looked inside, he noticed all the money was missing. When he ran outside to catch her, he saw her leaving with four or five men who yelled threats at him to not call the police.

    • 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. 2300 block of Waldemere St. Juvenile problem. An officer responded to a report of juveniles kicking mailboxes. An anonymous complaint described the two boys and the home they were seen going into. The officer made contact with the boys, who then returned to the home to fix the mailboxes. Their mother was visibly upset with what they had done and said she would take care of any repairs, if necessary.

    Fiery Temper

    • 12:47 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3. 1800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Dispute / Fight. Officers responded to an establishment, which reported that a woman attempted to enter in inappropriate attire and was refused entry. She became upset and left, returning shortly after and threw an unknown liquid along the entrances to the establishment. The woman then ran away and got into a vehicle with another woman. The officer determined the liquid was lighter fluid and advised the reporting party to wash down the entrance with water to avoid ignition from a spent cigarette.
