A two-year member of the Heritage Harbour South CDD is hoping to get the board back on track.

Michelle Patterson, former vice chairwoman of the community's CDD board, received the chairwoman position at the Dec. 2 meeting. She replaces Joyce Sandy, who resigned from the position at the Nov. 12 meeting.

Supervisor Rick Lane will sit as the vice chairman.

Patterson has already started outlining goals for her and the board to achieve, which she hopes will benefit the community and help the group "get its ducks in a row," she said. The new leader plans to delve deeper into which assets the CDD is supposed to maintain and how, such as the baseball fields and playgrounds.

"We need to get the black and white, structural baseline in order," Patterson said. "We need to figure out what's what still and who maintains what. We've gotten better (with knowing what the CDD manages) but we have a lot of work to do still."

In other news:

District Manager Greg Cox arranged for a financial representative to discuss the methodology behind residents' annual assessments and the board's budget. Cox arranged for the meeting to be held at the CDD's Feb. 3 meeting.

Lane approved the purchase of seven additional speed limit signs that will soon be placed throughout the community.

The CDD's next meeting is at 4 p.m. Jan. 6.
