A new and improved traffic signal is heading to the intersection of State Road 70 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.

Construction crews are working this week to dig holes for new mast arm signal intersection poles that will replace the intersection’s current span wire signal intersection, according to Manatee County Traffic Management Deputy Director Sage Kamiya.

On Wednesday, the eastbound right hand turn lane on State Road 70 at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard was closed off so crews could work to dig holes for the new mast arms.

Manatee County Traffic Operations, which is responsible for construction and maintenance of traffic signals within the county’s road system, is overseeing the project.
