Commission to appoint board members tonight

The Longboat Key Town Commission will appoint members for the town’s Planning & Zoning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Code Enforcement Board and Citizens Oversight Tax Committee at its regular meeting tonight.

The town received six applications for P&Z Board seats; four ZBA applications; three CEB applications; and three COTC applications.

Also at tonight’s 7 p.m. meeting at Longboat Key Town Hall, the commission will:

Discuss:
• Appointments to the proposed Community Center Advisory Committee and the scope of assignment for the committee;

Hear:
• A legislative update from Florida Rep. Jim Boyd;

• A Longboat Key Revitalization Task Force presentation about the North End Charrette project, which will include the presentation of the Longboat Key North End Idea Book;

Consider on its consent agenda:
• Appointments of commissioners to committees named in Town Code or as required by state agencies;
• The authorization of a letter in support of Sarasota County’s plans to commit $122,359 for the Juvenile Assessment Center;

Consider on first reading and public hearing:
• Changes to the Future Land Use Element of the town’s Comprehensive Plan recommended by the P&Z Board;

Consider resolutions:
• Allowing an 83-cent base-rate increase for collection and disposal of solid waste, recyclable materials and yard trash;

• Allowing for continuation of the town’s Finance Committee.
