1. Lubas sang the tenor solo in Handel’s Messiah with the Nashville Symphony Chorus in Ryman Auditorium, the original Grand Ole’ Opry.

2. In high school he was in many theatrical productions but his favorite show was Guys & Dolls where he played the lead role of Skye Masterson.

3. His favorite opera is La Bohème and he has sung the leading role of Rodolfo in five different productions. “I am a big sentimental guy, a big mush,” admitted Lubas.

4. Lubas met his wife, Amy, in high school. “I was 16 and she was 14. We dated for a few weeks. We stayed best friends and talked every night on the phone! We got back together sophomore year of college for Amy (’90).”

5. In 2004, Lubas was cast as a boxer in an opera called “The Game” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The whole second act of the show he “shadow box” his opponent while singing. “It is the only time I ever trained for a role on a treadmill,” said Lubas.
