Sarasota County Rob Lewis will speak to Siesta Key Village Association members during the organization’s monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 7. He will likely take questions about potential changes in code enforcement in Siesta Key Village, which he spoke to the Sarasota County Commissioners about during budget workshops earlier this year.

Noise complaints from residents near the Village prompted Sarasota County to consider adding code enforcement hours. John Lally, the code enforcement officer on Siesta, doesn’t currently investigate violations on weekends when the commercial district draws large crowds to bars and restaurants.

Although not included in the county’s tentative budget for the 2013 fiscal year, Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid said he is mulling options of adding overtime hours for current officers or hiring an additional officer.

SKVA will also discuss bus routes during the Siesta Key Crystal Classic and the status of reimbursement from the county for Village maintenance, among other items on the agenda. For complete coverage of the meeting pick up a copy of the Aug. 9 issue of the Pelican Press.
