Commission to consider interim contract tonight

The Longboat Key Town Commission will review a contract signed last week by Sarasota County Deputy Administrator David Bullock for the position of interim town manager and provide direction to Town Attorney David Persson at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at Town Hall.

The one-year agreement includes a salary of $180,000; term life insurance of $540,000, or three times the salary amount; retirement contribution of 17.8% of salary, or $32,040; a long-term care insurance policy premium not to exceed $7,000 per year; 30 days severance if terminated without cause; and disability insurance, leave and vacation as the town currently provides to all at-will employees.

Also at tonight’s meeting, the commission will:

Consider adopting:
• An ordinance amending the 2010-11 fiscal year budget to allow a transfer of $268,364.81 from the General Fund to the Town Manager Severance Fund to provide severance payment to former Town Manager Bruce St. Denis.
• A 2011-12 fiscal year holiday schedule for town employees.
Discuss:
• Agenda items for an Oct. 18 joint meeting between town commissioners and Manatee County commissioners.
• The town’s legislative priorities that will be submitted to the Sarasota County Legislative Delegation, Manatee County Legislative Delegation and the ManaSota League of Cities.
