He’s the general manager of Casa del Mar and the force behind the largest cotton plant in the world. But here are a few things you didn’t know about D.M. Williams.

1. He’s simply the best: In the 1960s, Williams booked a young Ike and Tina Turner to perform in La Mesa, Texas.

2. He’s a dancing king: He met his assistant manager, Mark Meador, while they were clogging with the Cripple Creek Cloggers at the Great Geauga County Fair, in Burton, Ohio. Although Williams has mostly shelved his clogging shoes, he will still clog when he hears a good bluegrass mix.

3. Plans for growth: Williams’ latest use for that green thumb of his? He’s working on a rose garden at Casa del Mar.

4. Horsing around: Williams trained horses when he was younger and showed trick horses in small performances.

5. By the book: Williams’ favorite books are Westerns and biographies of U.S. presidents and first ladies.
