Town Manager Bruce St. Denis has scheduled the Longboat Key Town Commission’s first budget workshop.
The commission will hold its first official discussion regarding the 2011-12 preliminary budget at 9 a.m.
Wednesday, June 15, at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

The commission received a preliminary 2011-12 budget Wednesday, June 1 that includes a $223,601 budget deficit. St. Denis, however, lists six ways to keep the budget flat. One of those ways includes a 2.6% millage increase — a millage rate increase from 1.8872 mills to 1.9367 mills. The move would balance the budget.

The recommended budget will be presented to the commission by Aug. 1, and the budget will be adopted on second reading at a special meeting in late September.
