According a Longboat Key police report, a man who was renting a room in a home on Ranger Lane in Country Club Shores committed sexual battery on his 18-year-old daughter May 13 in the home.

Longboat Key Police Chief Al Hogle released a redacted police report June 2, which stated the man, who was drinking heavily, masturbated naked in front of his daughter and later performed oral sex on her. The report states she kicked him, ran out of the home and made a phone call to report the activity. The father then dropped his daughter off in the early morning hours of May 14 at an Osprey Walmart, where someone was waiting to pick her up.

The man fled the scene and the daughter was later escorted back to the home at 562 Ranger Lane, where a written report was taken. The daughter gave police a picture of her father sitting naked in a chair. The victim was instructed to have a physical examination performed at a local hospital.

Hogle told the Longboat Observer the case has been turned over to the state attorney’s office, and no more information can be provided until the state attorney decides to file charges against the father and issue a warrant for his arrest.

The man is currently not in jail, and Hogle confirmed he is no longer living on Longboat Key.

“We hope to have solved the problems on Ranger Lane,” Hogle said.

Stephen Roche, the owner of the home on Ranger Lane, could not be reached for comment regarding his former tenants.
