Town Manager Bruce St. Denis told 75 people in attendance at Longboat Island Chapel Thursday night why voters should approve a $16 million sand and structures project on the March ballot.

St. Denis explained to the group at a Longboat Key Public Interest Committee form titled “Beaches 101” that before the beach management plan was in effect, the beach had many additional erosion hotspots.

The town manager told the group he supports the $16 million beach project proposed or the north end of the island, which will build some structures yet to be determined, to help hold sand in the area.
